After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Kibale Forest National Park. The journey will take you through Uganda’s lush countryside, with vast tea plantations and picturesque landscapes along the way. Kibale is renowned for its rich biodiversity, hosting 13 species of primates, including the rare L’Hoest monkey, Red colobus, Red-tailed monkeys, and Grey-cheeked mangabey. It is also home to over 335 bird species, including Albertine Rift endemics, making it a birder’s paradise.
Start your day with an exhilarating chimpanzee trekking experience in Kibale Forest. Guided by expert rangers, hike through the dense forest in search of habituated chimpanzees. Once found, observe these fascinating primates as they play, forage, and swing through the trees. After lunch, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most scenic and diverse park. Enjoy a game drive as you enter the park, spotting wildlife such as elephants, buffalo, and antelope amidst the savannah plains.
Begin with an early morning game drive across Queen Elizabeth’s expansive savannah. Look out for iconic wildlife, including lions, leopards, elephants, hippos, spotted hyenas, and the elusive Giant Forest Hog. Return to your lodge for relaxation. Enjoy a game drive in search of these extraordinary lions lounging on fig trees, along with other wildlife like topis and buffalo. Continue your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas and a variety of Albertine Rift endemic bird species. Arrive at your lodge, settle in, and enjoy a restful evening ahead of the thrilling gorilla trek the next day.
Enjoy an early breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking etiquette. Accompanied by expert rangers, embark on a trek through Bwindi’s dense forest, hiking across rugged terrain in search of a gorilla family. The trek can last between 2 to 7 hours, but once you locate the gorillas, you’ll spend an unforgettable hour observing them at close range as they interact, play, and feed. In the afternoon, visit the Batwa community to learn about their traditional way of life, listen to their stories, and enjoy vibrant cultural performances.
After breakfast, enjoy a scenic drive back to Entebbe for your onward flight, reflecting on your unforgettable Ugandan adventure. Alternatively, exit through Rwanda with a transfer to Kigali, where you can explore highlights like the Kigali Genocide Memorial (time permitting) before your departure flight.
